4-day Delhi itinerary

Delhi, a union territory of contrasts, offers a kaleidoscope of experiences for every traveller. From the grandeur of Mughal architecture to the vibrant chaos of its bazaars, the city is a melting pot of history, culture, and culinary delights. Here’s a detailed 4-day Delhi itinerary to help you make the most of your four-day Delhi itinerary.

Where Does Our 4-Day Delhi Itinerary Begin?

Let us begin this four-day itinerary from Old Delhi. Old Delhi offers a unique and immersive experience, but choosing the right accommodation is key.

How to Reach Old Delhi?

You can reach Old Delhi by taking a metro train from New Delhi. You can learn more about Delhi Metro from my post.

  • If you travel by flight from your hometown, you will reach the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is located in New Delhi. You can take a subway from the airport to Old Delhi Station via Kashmere Gate and New Delhi in nearly 52 minutes.
  • Otherwise, Delhi Transport Corporation runs a bus from Terminal 2 of the airport to ISBT Kashmere Gate Terminal. The bus service is available once every 10 minutes.
  • If you are reaching New Delhi Railway Station, you can take a taxi, a bus or a train to reach Old Delhi.
  • As the distance is short, you can also walk from New Delhi Railway Station to reach Old Delhi. It will take around 30 minutes if you walk. However, as you plan to spend 4 days in Delhi, you will have a lot of luggage. So, it might be hard for you to walk.
  • Similar to New Delhi Airport, you can also use a subway to reach Old Delhi from New Delhi Railway Station.

However, the mode of transportation will differ based on the location of your accommodation.

Where to Stay in Old Delhi?

  • For a truly authentic stay, consider a heritage haveli in Chandni Chowk. These restored mansions offer a glimpse into the city’s rich history.
  • Budget-conscious travellers can opt for guesthouses or budget hotels in areas like Paharganj, which is also convenient for transportation.
  • If you prefer a blend of heritage and comfort, there are boutique hotels that offer modern amenities while preserving the old-world charm.

Remember, Old Delhi can be bustling, so choose a location that suits your comfort level. Make sure to reach Old Delhi the night before your 4-day Delhi itinerary begins. So, you can start visiting the best places in Delhi on the first day morning.
