5 Villages in Europe I wish I can spend a month in

I’m a dreamer. I dream to embark upon ever-lasting journeys and leaving home behind. I dream to discover secret spots which can define euphoria for travelers. Europe has always ignited curiosity in me. Not the famous spots and attractions, but the hidden villages in Europe where the cradle of culture is still swinging with the rhythm of life.

So, before the foreign exchange rate becomes less favorable for me, I wish to check these villages off my wish list. In Aug 2013, Euro to INR conversion was Rs. 86 and in March 2014, it was around Rs. 66.

Euro is again climbing the charts. From Rs. 70 in April’15, it has currently reached Rs. 75! Before it hits 85+ again, I am willing to plan my long pending Europe trip!

I have come across many articles where a visit to lesser known villages in Europe is recommended. However, it is impossible to remember each of them. So, I have scanned these lists multiple times and these 5 villages would be perfect for me! Is there a better way to build a bucket list than blogging? Well, I guess not!

1) Bled, Slovenia

Home to Lake bled, this quaint village in Alps is a perfect destination for a dream trip. The lake, surrounded by stalwart mountains, is mesmerizing and epitome of serenity. Walking through the lanes of Bled would be like walking in a different world altogether where fairy tales are real!

2) Bolgheri, Italy

Located south of Pisa, Bolgheri in Italy can be a delight for foodies like me. The gastronomic expeditions through the lanes of Bolgheri would be very rewarding for me. Along with Italian cuisine, sipping some authentic wine would also be a good experience.

3) Albarracin, Spain

Home to not more than 1500 people, Albarracin might just teleport me to medieval ages. The medieval structures and lanes are untouched by modernization. It would be a great experience to stay here for a month and indulge in the history!

4) Reine, Norway

A small fishing village in Norway, Reine has less than 500 habitants! Surrounded by spectacular mountains and hanging fjords, Reine was recently voted as Norway’s most beautiful village! How amazing would it be to spend a month here and just admire the beauty around while walking through quaint lanes?

5) Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland

Another gem in the Scandinavian region, Ittoqqortoormiit is a remote village in Greenland, tucked away from everything that modernization represents. Flights to reach here is only once a week from Iceland and I will to plan well to reach here in time. I can’t imagine how peaceful would this village would be!

The anticipation to visit these villages and stay there for a month is very exciting for me! I might not be able to spend a month at each village, but I’d definitely spare more than 3 days for each of these villages.
