History

Apart from Wonderla Bangalore, the flagship amusement park has branches in Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad and Kochi.

In 2000, the founder Kochouseph Chittilappilly began the flagship amusement water theme park. He did it in Kochi and named the amusement park Veegaland. For this project, he invested 75 Crores in Indian rupees.

Following the great response to this theme park, Kochouseph along with his son Arum Chittilappily launched another amusement park with an investment of INR 105 crore in Bangalore. The name of this park is Wonderla. It is spread over 82 acres of land.

Then, the father and son duo commissioned a third amusement park in Hyderabad in April 2016. Presently, the managing director of the group is Arun Chitilappilly.

How to Reach Wonderla?

You can choose different modes of transportation to reach the park from Bangalore. Read on to gain more knowledge about the different modes you can choose to reach Wonderla from Bangalore:

Private Car

If you own a car, you can drive your car from Bangalore to Wonderla. You can choose one of these routes:

  • When you take the Mysore Road, you can reach within a 29 km drive from Bangalore.
  • The distance will be 34.6 km via NICE Bangalore and Mysore Expressway.
  • You will have to travel for 48.6 km when you take the NH 48 route.

The park has ample car parking facilities. So, you need not have to worry about it. Not only car, you can travel by bike from Bangalore as well following one of the routes above.

Bus

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation operates direct buses from different parts of Bangalore to Wonderla. Particularly, BMTC V226 buses run frequently from all parts of the city to Wonderla. When you take the BMTC Volvo V226 buses, you can avail 15% discount on Wonderla entry tickets. Here is the BMTC V226 Bus Schedule from different areas of Bangalore:

  • KBS Majestic to Wonderla – From 8.15 am onwards, buses from KBS Majestic run every 30 minutes on weekdays. During weekends, the frequency of this bus is every 15 minutes.
  • HSR to Wonderla – Two buses start from HRS Layout BDA Complex one at 9 am and the second at 9.30 am.
  • ITPL to Wonderla – The bus starts at ITPL WFTTMC starts at 8.40 am every day.
  • Banashankari to Wonderla – The bus starts from Banashankari at 8.15 am every day.

Metro

From Bangalore City, you can travel by metro to reach Kengeri Metro Station. This is the nearest metro station to the amusement park. You can find this metro station on the Purple Line. From this metro station, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Wonderla. The distance from the station to the park is 12.9 km via the NH 275 route.

From Kengeri Metro Station, you can take the MF-41 bus that runs towards Bidadi Bus Stand. Board off the bus at Manchanayakanahalli Gate. From this bus station, you can walk to Wonderla and the distance is 2.1 km.

Bangalore houses a couple of key railway stations. One of them is Bengaluru Cantonment and the other is Bengaluru City Junction. From these railway stations, you can choose to travel by metro, bus or taxi to reach Wonderla. The same rule applies if you are reaching the Kempegowda International Airport. From the airport, you can take a BMTC Volvo V226 to directly reach Wonderla.

Wonderla Bangalore is open on all days. On weekdays, the park opens at 11 am and closes at 6 pm. Water Park timing during weekdays is between 12.30 pm and 5 pm. On weekends and holidays, these timings are from 11 am to 7 pm and 12 pm and 6 pm respectively. So, you can choose a time that suits you the best.

Summer

Some suggest that summer is the best season to visit Wonderla Bangalore. The reason is that you can escape the scorching heat by participating in water rides. Nevertheless, this is the peak season. So, you should expect much crowd. Also, the ticket cost in this season will be high.

Dry Season

Some feel that the dry season between October and February is ideal for visiting Wonderla Bangalore. They argue that only then you can enjoy the dry rides comfortably.

After Monsoon

They are for college students with ID, Birthday offers, and defence family offers. You can also skip the queue by buying fast-track tickets. The cost is Rs.2425 for adults and Rs.1940 for kids.
