South India has a long list of destinations that can encapsulate the best of India and present it to a traveller in a fascinating way. Kerala is one such state, aptly known as God’s own country.
I visited Kumarakom recently and absolutely loved it. In Kerala, I have been to Alleppy and Kovalam earlier. Hence, when I came across this Cox and Kings Tour package which covers these 3 destination along with Kanyakumari, I thought of sharing my experience with Cox and Kings here.
Kumarakom and Kovalam in Kerala are lesser known destinations as compared to other popular getaways. However, the often sought after destination, Alleppy, is also brilliant to visit. So, what can be an ideal itinerary for you? Well, this itinerary from Cox and Kings has covered it well. I hope you like my Cox and Kings Kerala package review!
This tour package covers Kumarakom, Alleppy and beaches of Kovalam. Aptly named as “Kerala Kaleidoscope”, truly helps you experience the best of Kerala. Out of these 3 destinations, Kumarakom & Alleppy are known for the serene and placid backwaters; Kovalam for the tranquil beaches.
The trip starts from Alleppy, also known as Alappuzha. Apart from admiring the magnificence of the backwaters, you can discover great places to savour local delicacies and indulge in the authentic culture and lifestyle of Kerala. As a part of the package tour, you will also get to stay in a houseboat. The houseboat provides a perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience. As the houseboat will sway gently, you will be glad to witness the grandeur of nature this close!
After Alleppy, the tour package takes you to Kumarakom which is indeed a gem not discovered by many. The backwaters fill up your vision till the horizon and you can’t help but stare joyfully at the orange hues in the sky, painted by the evening sun and mesmerizing reflections of myriad colours on the surface of the backwaters.
A Houseboat stays nonchalant in the backwaters The sun making an appearance, oh, so grand!
Kovalam, another destination covered in this trip, is a true representation of the beautiful beaches that Kerala has. The calm waves hit the beach sand, perturbed only by a few footsteps and gentle wind apart from the waves. The meaning of Kovalam is “a groove of coconut trees” and it fits the description perfectly! You can explore the various beaches in Kovalam and spend a relaxed time at an enchanting resort.
In addition to discovering these gems of Kerala, there is also a provision of excursion to Kanyakumari included in this itinerary! The southern gem in India is renowned for its beautiful sunset and the Vivekananda Statue. Located only at a distance of 83 KMs, Kanyakumari can be covered in a day from Kovalam. As a part of this trip, you will be able to experience the magnificence of Kanyakumari as well.
Unlike other package deals, this Cox and Kings Kerala tour package provides you a great travel experience along with plenty of leisure time to explore the destination. You can utilize this leisure time and indulge in discovering the essence of the destination. For example, in Kumarakom, there are some beautiful temples, tucked away in wilderness and oblivious to tourist attention. Spending some time at these temples will help you experience spirituality in its purest form. A recommended temple to be visited is Thirunakkara Mahadeva temple.
I hope you liked my Cox and Kings review. Have you been to Kerala before? Do share your experiences in comments below!
