It’s a cold & starry night. A cozy & dimly lit cottage stands elegantly in front of me, glittering under the moonlight. Surrounded by prolific & lush green trees, the cottage looks like right out of a dream. A gentle blanket of fog lays low, covering my path as I tread on timid grass, admiring the envelope of serenity around me. Crumbling of fire-wood & brushing of tree leaves are the only sounds I hear. The sky above me is devoid of city lights, lit up magnificently by the moon, along with a chiaroscuro of neatly arranged stars. I walked towards the cottage, as the moon rose higher towards the sky’s zenith. I laid in bed, imagining how beautiful the morning would be! Gradually, I traversed towards the kingdom of dreams, sure that no dream can be as great as this experience, that of spending time in Punjab’s countryside, during winters!

Hoshiarpur in Punjab, is a lesser known tourist destination. But, during my recent trip, I discovered amazing unique travel ideas in Hoshiarpur. I tasted the grand flavor of hospitality at Citrus County Resort & Kailash Farms, two of the best accommodations in & around Hoshiarpur. Both of these properties are surrounded by endless terrains of farms!

Memorable experiences
When I returned back from the trip, I couldn’t help but reminisce about the wonderful experiences I had during my farm stays. Here, I’m listing my best experiences!
1) Cycling in the farms
Kailash Farms is surrounded by vast farms and prolific fauna! During my stay here, I woke up early one morning and cycled around in the beautiful farms! The morning dew was still fresh on the grass and there was a nip in the air as I rediscovered how liberating cycling can be! Cycling while surrounded by lush green farms was one memorable experience!
2) Plucking Fresh Tangerines
Tangerines belong to the Citrus family and Citrus County resort is surrounded by vast farms, bearing citrus fruits. These Tangerine farms had a wonderful fragrance and lured our hearts beyond our control. I plucked some fresh Tangerines and savored them till my heart was satiated upto the brim.

3) Tractor ride!
At Citrus County & Kailash farms, we were offered a tractor ride. I always wanted to enjoy an early morning tractor ride while staring at vast farms, blurry at the horizon due to fog! I enjoyed tractor rides at both the farm-stays and I was nothing less than delighted!

4) Lunch amidst Poplar trees
Citrus County had organized a delectable lunch for us amidst Poplar trees and as the fragrance of freshly cooked food lured our senses, we were enchanted by this amazing experience. We felt so close to nature!

5) Enjoying Punjabi Hospitality and food
Kailash Farms & Citrus county had organized amazing food for us and we were nothing short of elated by their hospitality. I had always heard about Punjabi hospitality and my stay in both the farm houses helped me experience it in person! I would surely say that it is difficult to beat Punjabi when it comes to providing a great experience to guests!

In addition to these experiences, Citrus county had two Labradors and I, being a dog lover, absolutely loved their company!

The countryside of Punjab in winters certainly exceeded my expectations! I was overwhelmed by the hospitality and would surely recommend a visit to Hoshiarpur during winters. The farm stay experience will be a great & unique experience for you!
