9-day Telangana Itinerary to Unveil the Attractions of Telangana State

9-day Telangana itinerary

Telangana, a state pulsating with history, culture, and natural beauty, beckons travellers with its captivating charm. I am sure that this 9-day Telangana Itinerary curates an enriching experience. Following it, you can delve into the heart of Hyderabad, the vibrant capital. Also, you can venture beyond to discover hidden gems.

Before the start of the 9-day Telangana itinerary, make sure that you reach Hyderabad. So, your journey begins from Hyderabad on the first day of this itinerary. As you know, the city of Pearls is well-connected to other Indian cities by different modes of transportation. For instance, you can choose to reach Hyderabad by flight or train. In case, you are from other cities of Telangana state, you can choose to reach Hyderabad by bus. My post on how to reach Hyderabad might help you in this regard.

My 9-day Telangana Itinerary

As we are starting our Telangana exploration from Hyderabad, you should be aware of the best accommodations in Hyderabad for a comfortable stay.

Where to Stay in Hyderabad?

Hyderabad has different kinds of accommodations for different budgets. Thankfully, you can use applications like MakeMyTrip to shortlist accommodations based on your budget. However, based on my experience in Hyderabad, I would like to list a few of the best hotels in Hyderabad for comfort and incomparable hospitality:

  • The Taj Mahal Hotel
  • Trident Hyderabad
  • The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace
  • Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre

Day 1 & 2: Hyderabad Exploration

Day 1: Start your Telangana Exploration

Considering that you already reached Hyderabad, the previous night, you can start your day with breakfast in your accommodation. Most accommodations in Hyderabad offer a complimentary breakfast. If your accommodation has one, you can finish your breakfast. Otherwise, you can visit a hotel near your accommodation for breakfast.

In case, you are reaching Hyderabad only on the first morning of this 9-day Telangana itinerary, make sure to finish your breakfast before reaching your accommodation.

In both cases, you can finish your breakfast and get back to your accommodation. You can rest for a few hours. After finishing your lunch in one of the best restaurants in Hyderabad, you can start to the Salar Jung Museum.

Salar Jung Museum

The Salar Jung Museum is one of India’s largest museums. Explore its diverse collection encompassing art, artefacts, and relics spanning the globe.

When you reach this museum after your lunch, you will need at least 5-6 hours to explore this huge museum. In the middle of exploring this huge museum, you will have to take a rest as you will have to walk a lot.

Dinner

After exploring the Salar Jung Museum, you can head to a restaurant near this museum to finish your dinner before heading to your accommodation.

Day 2: Hyderabad Exploration Continues

Charminar

We can start our Hyderabad exploration after breakfast on the second day of this 9-day Telangana itinerary. You can also have your breakfast at a restaurant close to Charminar as well. Charminar is a 16th-century mosque and the emblem of Hyderabad—Marvel at its intricate architecture and bustling market below.

Mecca Masjid

Just a stone’s throw from Charminar, visit the Mecca Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India.

After exploring these two places, you can visit one of the best restaurants in Hyderabad for a tasty Hyderabadi Briyani. After lunch, you can go to the Hussain Sagar Lake.

Hussain Sagar Lake

Hussain Sagar Lake is an artificial lake famous for the statue of Buddha. The statue stands in the middle of the artificial lake. You can enjoy a boat ride for a closer view of the statue.

Lumbini Park

Visit the nearby Lumbini Park, a small urban park that offers musical fountain shows in the evening. This park is located adjacent to Hussain Sagar Lake. This park is famous for its laser show every evening. So, you can get the best experience here on the second day of this 9-day Telangana itinerary.

After exploring Lumbini Park, you can finish your dinner in a nearby restaurant. After dinner, get back to your accommodation for a restful sleep.

Day 3 & 4: Ramoji Film City and Travel to Warangal

Day 3: Ramoji Film City

After breakfast near your accommodation on day 3 of this 9-day Telangana itinerary, start to the Ramoji Film City. You can dedicate an entire day to exploring Ramoji Film City, one of the largest film studio complexes in the world. The film city offers guided tours, live shows, amusement rides, and beautiful gardens.

You can finish your lunch in Ramoji Film City itself. After lunch spend some time within the film city complex before heading to Shilparamam.

Evening: Shilparamam

Spend the evening at Shilparamam, an arts and crafts village in Hyderabad. It showcases the rich cultural heritage of India through various exhibitions and performances. My post on all you need to know about Shilparamam might help you gain more knowledge about this place.

Finish your dinner near Shilparamam and get back to your accommodation.

Day 4: Travel to Warangal

On day 4 of this 9-day Telangana itinerary, finish your breakfast near your accommodation before starting to Warangal. Warangal is located around 150 km from Hyderabad. So, it will take around 5 hours if you travel by road. Otherwise, you can book a suitable train via the IRCTC website. Many trains connect Hyderabad and Warangal.

Otherwise, you can also choose bus travel from Hyderabad to Warangal.

Where to Stay in Warangal?

Here are some options for places to stay in Warangal, depending on your budget and preferences:

  • Luxury: For a luxurious stay, consider the Hotel Thousand Pillars. This 3-star hotel features an elegant ambience, a cigar lounge, a restaurant, and a breakfast buffet.
  • Mid-Range: For a comfortable mid-range stay, check out Haritha Kakatiya Hotel. This hotel offers well-maintained rooms, a fitness centre, a restaurant, and a bar.
  • Budget-friendly: If you’re on a tight budget, there are many budget-friendly options available in Warangal, such as Super OYO Flagship Hotel Bommarillu. This hotel provides clean and basic accommodations at an affordable price.

So, choose one of these accommodations. If you book one of them in advance online, you can easily check in. Based on the time of reaching finish your lunch in a nearby restaurant. After lunch, take a rest for a few hours before getting to Warangal Fort.

Evening: Warangal Fort

Visit Warangal Fort, an architectural masterpiece known for its impressive gateways and intricate carvings.

After exploring this place, finish your dinner before you get back to your accommodation for a restful sleep.

Day 5 & 6: Exploring Warangal and Travel to Khammam

Day 5: Thousand Pillar Temple & Bhadrakali Temple

Morning

Start your day with a fresh breakfast in your accommodation if complimentary breakfast is available. Otherwise, finish your breakfast in a restaurant close to your accommodation. After finishing your breakfast head to the Thousand Pillar Temple.

Thousand Pillar Temple

This temple holds historical value in Warangal. It is dedicated to Lord Surya, Shiva and Vishnu. This temple will not have much crowd. So, you can finish your darshan and head to Bhadrakali Temple.

Bhadrakali Temple

This temple dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali is located on Lake Bhadrakali.

After darshan at both these temples, it will nearly be afternoon. So, you can finish your lunch before you head to your accommodation.

Where to Eat in Warangal?

Warangal offers a variety of dining options to satisfy diverse palates:

  • For traditional Telugu cuisine, visit Kakatiya Residency, known for its authentic flavours and hearty meals.
  • Hotel Shreya provides a mix of North and South Indian dishes in a family-friendly setting.
  • If you crave vegetarian food, head to Swaad Restaurant for delicious thalis and local delicacies.
  • For a more upscale dining experience, Star Hotel and Restaurant offer a range of Indian and Chinese dishes in a comfortable ambience.

After your lunch at one of these restaurants on the 5th day of your 9-day Telangana itinerary, you can get back to your accommodation for taking rest for a few hours.

In the evening, for a quick bite or snack, try the street food at local markets, offering everything from spicy chaats to sweet treats. After this, you can stroll around the streets of Warangal. If you are a shopping enthusiast, you can buy some local stuff.

After finishing your dinner, get back to your Warangal Accommodation. This makes the end of the fifth day of your Telangana itinerary.

Day 6: Travel to Khammam

On the 6th day of your 9-day Telangana itinerary, you can head to Khammam from Warangal. Khammam is located at around 120 km from Warangal. So, you can expect around 5 hours of drive.

You can start early and finish your breakfast en route to Khammam from Warangal.

Where to Stay in Khammam?

Khammam offers a range of accommodations to suit different budgets and preferences. Here are some choices:

  • Hotel Harsha Residency is a popular choice, known for its comfortable rooms and central location.
  • For a more upscale experience, Khammam Grand Hotel provides modern amenities and excellent service.
  • Budget travellers can opt for Hotel Sitara Grand, which offers clean and affordable rooms.
  • Hotel Sindhu Towers is another good option, offering well-maintained rooms and courteous staff.
  • If you prefer a homely atmosphere, consider staying at a guesthouse like Lakshmi Residency.

Each of these options ensures a pleasant stay while you explore the historical and natural attractions of Khammam. Based on the time of your starting from Warangal, it will be around afternoon or evening when you reach Khammam. Plan your lunch accordingly.

If you reach by evening, you can rest for a few hours to relieve the travelling stress. Then, you can head to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Here comes the end of day 6 of this 9-day Telangana itinerary.

Day 7 & 8: Khammam Exploration and Bhadrachalam Darshan

Day 7: Khammam Fort

Immediately after finishing your breakfast head to Khammam Fort. In this historical attraction, you can get a panoramic view of the entire Khammam City. This will give you an unforgettable experience for sure.

Papi Kondalu

After the fort exploration, go to Papi Kondalu. This picturesque hill range along the Godavari River will provide you with an opportunity for a boat ride.

After exploring these two places finish your lunch at one of the best restaurants in Khammam.

Where to Eat in Khammam?

Khammam boasts a variety of dining options to please any palate. Here are a few I would like to suggest:

  • Hotel Abhiruchi is a top choice for authentic Telugu cuisine, offering flavorful dishes and a warm ambience.
  • If you prefer vegetarian food, try Aahar Kuteer, known for its delicious thalis and South Indian specialities.
  • For North Indian cuisine and a family-friendly atmosphere, head to Taj Mahal Restaurant.
  • Finally, Meghana Restaurant provides a mix of Indian and Chinese dishes, making it a great spot for a diverse dining experience.

Finish your lunch at one of these restaurants. Get back to your accommodation for one or two hours of rest.

Evening: Drive to Bhadrachalam

Bhardrachalam is located at around 113 km from Khammam. So, you can expect around 4 hours of drive to reach Bhadrachalam. After dinner en route reach your Bhadrachalam accommodation.

Where to Stay in Bhadrachalam?

  • Budget-friendly: Bhadrachalam is known for its numerous pilgrim stays called “Satrams” which provide basic amenities at a very reasonable cost. You can explore options like Padmashali Satram, Sri Ramabhadra Kshatriya Annadana Satram, or Jeeyar Mutt for a cultural experience.
  • Mid-range: For a comfortable stay with more amenities, consider hotels like Varun Residency, Sri Bhavya Residency, or Haritha Hotel Bhadrachalam. These hotels offer clean rooms, some with river or temple views, and on-site restaurants for your convenience.
  • Luxury: If you prefer a luxurious stay, Srinidhi Residency is a good choice. This hotel boasts spacious rooms with river and temple views, a swimming pool, a spa, and a restaurant offering a variety of cuisines.

Make sure to book your accommodation in advance at Bhadrachalam. The reason is that this place is visited by pilgrims in large numbers. So, to avoid last-minute disappointments book your accommodation early.

Day 8: Bhadrachalam Temple Darshan

Finish your breakfast at or near your accommodation and let the 8th day of your 9-day Telangana Itinerary turn devotional. Yes, visit the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple. This temple, as the name implies is dedicated to Lord Rama. Darshan at this temple will take around one to two hours. You can finish the darshan quickly if you opt for a special entry ticket darshan.

After the darshan, you can do some simple shopping around the temple as you can find many shops.

After this, get back to your accommodation. You can finish your lunch in the middle near your accommodation and can get back to your accommodation.

Evening

You can spend the evening by the Godavari River. This serene ambience will relax your mind. You can take some pictures and finish your dinner in a restaurant nearby before heading back to your accommodation.

Day 9: Departure

On the 9th day of this 9-day Telangana itinerary, you can return to your hometown. The nearest railway station to Bhadrachalam is Kothagudem. This railway station is presently renamed as Bhadrachalam Road Station. This is located around 40 km from town. So, if you have booked train tickets, you should start accordingly from your accommodation.

If you wish to travel by flight to your hometown, the nearest airport to Bhardrachalam is Rajahmundry Domestic Airport. However, remember that this airport is located around 180 km from Bhadrachalam. So, you should travel around 5 hours by road to reach the airport. So, booking trains would be convenient. Otherwise, you can choose to travel by bus to Rajahmundry. When you travel by a luxury bus, you will not feel the stress of travelling. Here comes the end of our 9-day Telangana itinerary.
